Stable-Retro

A maintained Gym Retro fork connecting classic-game emulators to Gymnasium, with integrations defining rewards, state variables and episode endings.

TrainingEvaluationLinux, macOS

What can you do with it?

Train agents on emulator-backed games and create integrations translating game memory into rewards and success conditions.

What should you know before using it?

Most integrations need separately supplied matching ROMs or BIOS files; only limited homebrew/test examples are included. Python 3.11–3.14 is documented; Windows uses WSL2 and core support varies. Wrapper code is MIT, but emulator cores include GPL and non-commercial terms. This is not a blanket game redistribution license.
