DeepMind Lab
A customizable first-person 3D game platform for visual navigation, memory and control tasks, built on the Quake III/ioquake3 engine lineage.
What can you do with it?
Create and compare visually rich, partially observed tasks using a programmable level system and agent API.
What should you know before using it?
Source-build instructions target Linux x86 and include historical Python/Bazel guidance; modern compatibility was not tested. Rendering needs SDL2 and an OpenGL/EGL/GLX or software backend. Licensing is mixed: engine/OpenArena components use GPLv2, main assets CC BY 4.0, with additional component notices.
What is verified here?
This entry was reviewed against original project material. We have not independently run the software or reproduced its results. AI-development claims are author-reported; check upstream for current versions, setup requirements, and licenses.
